Could Obama be the answer to our financial problems?
Oct 30, 2008 I Don't Like to Work
Where are all the good independants?
I’ve voted Republican as long as I can remember. When I turned 18 I voted mostly for the christian moral issues. In my early and mid twenties it was mostly for fiscally conscious reasons. And as I sit here in my mid 30’s it seems to be because of the above 2 AND national security mixed in with a little ol’ nudging from my mom.
I don’t really like either candidate all too much. You may LOVE McCain or Obama, but I don’t. I have great conversations with my older sister Cathy who loves in Boston, about politics all the time, and if we can love each other through our obvious differences then I don’t have a problem with you either (no matter how much you love Obama)
It’s obvious that times are good for some people. Matter of fact times couldn’t be better for me. Financial freedom in a politically free environment is a rare thing indeed. Oftentimes I just sit back and than God for everything he’s done for me. Funny thing is though is that I remember sitting back and thanking God for everything he’s done for me long before I was making a lot of money.
Times are also bad for a lot of people and here’s my opinion. Even though I’ll probably vote for John, I think that the economy has a better chance of “rebounding” FASTER if Obama is elected. I think tax cuts and small government are GOOD things. BUT I think that the media has done a tremendous job for Barack in ONE single instance.
Identifying Obama as Change. CHANGE FOR CHANGE’s SAKE
No matter who is elected I personally will stand behind them 100% as I think we all should. BUT if Obama is elected I think that the “emotional” state of this country will change much faster than the opposite. Maybe with lightning speed…
The GOOD news is that we still live in the greatest country in the world. The GOOD news is that regardless of who is elected there will be a small fraction of people who will achieve massive success. The GOOD news is that it’s easy to join this group whenever you want to.
I’m telling you, (if your not already here) it’s pretty nice on this side.
The banks messed up bigtime. High powered execs got greedy. Lazy politicians can’t make up their minds. This is all true, but what I know for sure is that CHANGE is happening faster today than EVER before.
Change is all around us. It’s everywhere we look. I’ve always made it a habit to embrace it and NOT push it away. So come on let’s see what YOU can do.
Just answer me this ONE question - regardless of your political preference do you agree that if Obama is elected that the country has a faster chance of coming out of it’s doldrums? Remember I’m not saying it’s best long term for us, but rather FASTER…
Since so much of our modern world is based on pure emotion and momentum… Let er rip…

Personally, I think if Obama’s elected, the country will be elated for around a year, when they realize that he’s incapable of doing what he’s promised.
The poor, who expect him to make them wealthy, will still be poor, and a cry will go out over the land.
In any case, I agree… no matter WHO is elected, I’ll stand behind them, and yes, it’s great to know that no matter what happens, what taxes are raised or cut, or whatever, because of real estate, I’ll still be independent and happy.

I totally agree with you Greg. I have been thinking and saying exactly the same thing. I don’t like either candidate and will most likely vote McCain (even with how much I don’t like Palin) but I think Obama being elected will initially help this economy the best – just because of public perception. In 4 years I don’t think we will be better off with him and I really worry about what the ramifications may be with him leading our country (especially morally).
The thing to keep in mind is change is when people can really take advantage of new opportunities to create wealth. Money is always moving and you just need to position yourself in a place where you can “catch” some of it as it passes by.
October 30th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
Unfortunately, we as a country have sunk to a moral all time low and that is evident by the two boneheads running for the highest office in the land.
I have no idea if Obama will lead us out of our financial mess but long term we will be in deep kaka if he appoints more liberal judges that create law instead of interpret.
We must keep praying, that no matter who is elected, that he will have a heart change and go back to the christian principles upon which this great country was founded.

I don’t know how all you folks have so much time to spend so much time to discuss so much about issues that most of us know little about…
I am generally too busy trying to earn a living and make enough money to meet my tax responsibilities so that some other nice person can stay home, goof off, make babies, and stand in line to get their handout at my ( and your ) expense. And then whine because they aren’t getting enough or go out and steal or sell drugs. This has nothing to do with race, creed, color, religion, how fat you are, how tall you are, gender… but it DOES have to do with character and honor.
While I understand that charity will always be necessary to support an unfortunate few who deserve legitimate, temporary aid and never ending compassion, I for one am tired of the reckless use of MY ( our ) tax contribution.
In spite of our flaws, as conceived, this country is light years ahead in ALL respects to any other nation on earth… that is why citizens from all countries literally break down walls, fences, traverse the oceans, endure hardships of all kinds just to come to America. Of course there are those who come here because of the handouts as well.
I am amazed at how many of you see income redistribution as a legitimate consideration but once Pandora’s Box is opened there will be no end to what they will take from you over time. Socialism does not work… if elected Mr. Obama WILL persue a second Bill of Rights, he WILL raise your taxes, unless you make no money. then of course he will give you money. He WILL reduce our Military to Carter years standards, he WILL gradually take away your right to keep and bear arms, he WILL aid in the destruction of America’s work ethic… why work when everything is given to you? Compassion should never be mandated, but given freely and by choice. So for those of you who choose to follow some in this community who agree with Mr. Obama, well why don’t you volunteer to double YOUR share next April…. be sure to put my name on the extra donation. I appreciate it very much.
I don’t know about you, but for me, I would not enjoy or endure a meal, let alone a long relationship with ANYONE who admits to planting bombs where innocent people might be maimed, within my own country… Marines call that treason… the time issue is of no importance… it is principle and ethical for men of honor to show disdain for people with that type of ugly past. Mr Obama should have done that and no one should excuse him for that…
So go ahead and vote for this less than credible, unknown individual, with proven ties to less than credible relationships, who was developed by the far left media and see where you are 10 years from now… Wasn’t it Nikita himself who said that we will destroy ourselves from within? Well we are doing a darned good job.
I haven’t written this to start another thread… I don’t care about your response and I certainly don’t want to get into a pissing contest with anyone… You have one vote folks… use it wisely.
OK I’ve had my say… Respectfully submitted.. God Bless America!

Sorry, no don’t agree with you. The unsteadiness of the markets when he surges in the polls shows that. He doesn’t exude confidence to anyone except for folks with their hands out.
Change for changes sake isn’t necessarily the answer. I don’t think McCain really has many more of the issues conquered either, but he’s safer. If we go back to policies and programs of the mid-80’s or FDR, can it be considered change if we already have done it? Can’t figure that one out?
Tax and spend will only lose us more jobs, because as they say, “rich folks” won’t take the cut, they are just going to lay more people off usually at the bottom of the pay scale.
It’s funny we are moving more towards bigger government and socialist policy while much of Europe is struggling to get out of that. Just look at Ireland and France and how much they have moved to the right over the last several years with their economic and tax policies. It’s amazing.
I further think we have a fundamental problem in that we aren’t sending our best and brightest to run the country. Look at who we have now. You can’t tell me that’s the best we have to offer. Congress doesn’t leave great impressions either.
So… Here’s my new concept. Check it our here where I’ll be laying it out over the month or so. It’s call http://www.throw-em-all-out.com

I know that if Obama is elected, we will see nothing but more Government and that never solves any problems, it just creates more. As far as rebounding quicker, I really doubt it. But i guess anything is possible, like cows flying. Actually, I am about 98% sure that if Obama is elected we will not recover quicker. The reason is that I know a lot of business owners that are already having a hard time with this economy and if they see their taxes go up; they have already privately told me that they will have to lay people off due to the expectations of paying higher amounts. I also believe that some of the money coming out of the stock market is in part due to this fact as well, hence part of the sell off. That is does not get the economy going in the short or long term.

Hey Greg,
Do your research on candidates then tell me
who can lead.
Speaking of parents mine always taught me

So you be the judge of who walks the walk
or just talks the talk.

I come from a “blue” state and I always knew I was different spiritually and politically speaking. I am an “entrepreneur” and believe we all have the opportunity for “free enterprise” and I never thought that Government would support me and that it would be up to me (Ultimately God). If Obama becomes President, we will not be the same nation at all and it will be for the worst- it will segue our nation into a “one world economy” and we will no longer be a superpower. wake up America- at what price do we want change-we all have an opportunity for change everyday!!!!
October 30th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Do not sacrifice the permanent on the altar of the immediate. Neither man excites me, but Obama scares me as to what liberty or wealth I will have in four years.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Not all change is good. I received this in an email
just sharing it, of course make up your own mind.
See if you like the sound of this…..
Obama’s views on the flag, in his own words
Reported by Dale Lindsborg from the Washington Post.
From Sunday’s Televised “Meet the
Press” Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag. Obama Explains National Anthem Stance
Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn’ USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain why he doesn’t follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.
The General also stated to the Senator that
according to the United States Code,
Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171… During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention
facing the flag with the right hand over the
heart. At the very least, “Stand and Face It”
Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, “As
I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be
perceived as taking sides, Obama said. ‘There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like
message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like To Teach the World To Sing.’ If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.”We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love.
It’s my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails. Perhaps a state or period of mutual concord between our governments. When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons.
Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. She has her views and I have mine”. Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I
have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope. My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country’s First Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it
right. This could possibly be our next President.
I, for one, am speechless.

Here’s the candidate that I want in office.. well, at least the one that come’s closest! This has been attributed to Abraham Lincoln.. but frankly, what’s important is that these precepts should be foundational to America:
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away a person’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.
Where have all our leaders with the wisdom, character, directness, and convictions set forth above gone? We need a leader that will resist attempts to reverse the above concepts.
We definitely don’t want to follow the Socialist path to destruction and tyranny.

I voted for Obama… I personally don’t need the goverment to dictate neither my moral nor my spirituality… This country needs some inspiration and he can do that. Besides Palin scares the hell out of me!
Nobody can fix this country in 4 years… All I want is that on november 5th we can all put this madness behind and whoever wins keeps a laser-sharp focus in bringing the greatness of this country back.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
I think you may be right. I will vote for McCane but if Obama is elected then I think more people will feel like we’ve turned the corner so to speak
October 30th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
I’ll assume you were just trying to stir up the hornet’s nest with your positive comments of the Radical. Surely you can’t think his policies would be a good thing for investors. Obama is an eloquent speaker like many attorneys. But there is very little substance. You have to read between the lines.
McCain will do more to reform Washington, which is what we need. We need smaller government and less corruption. Cutting taxes will grow the economy. This is much better for Real Estate.
Obama will tax and spend, and I would rather decide for myself where my money should go. Socialism doesn’t work. It will push the economy over the edge. This is bad for Real Estate, and really bad for those of us striving for Financial Freedom.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
I agree 100%
October 30th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Personally, I don’t believe a word Obama says. Like all politicians, he says whatever he calculates will get him the most votes. The difference is that the media refuses to do their job and ask any tough journalistic questions bc they see him as their Chose One. He has not been honest with the American people that he hopes to lead about his radical past alliances, like his Communist mentor (Frank Davis), his race-baiting America hating spiritual mentor (Rev Wright), his vote stealing community organizers (Acorn), his terrorist comrades (Bill Ayers and khalidi), and his criminal political and home financier (Tony Rezko). He wants to rewrite our Constitution so he can “spread the wealth around”. That’s the worst possible prescription for business owners and our failing economy. Character still matters, especially for the leader of the Free World!
October 30th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
This an interesting thought Greg, but I don’t see the presidency effecting consumer and investor confidence as much as you might think. I know I wouldn’t decide to save or spend based on who’s in the white house. I think the trend towards spending less and saving more has already been set, because people have realized that they are not as safe as they once thought. It is like the teenager who gets in a car wreck and realizes he or she isn’t immortal.
What’s more is other countries see Obama more objectively than half our country does, and they do not have much confidence. The BBC says we are reliving the 1970’s all over again, comparing this election to Jimmy Carter’s. Though Carter campaigned on “trust” instead of “hope,” they both have the same policy ideas and the same shallowness with regards to details and experience.
To be sure, foreign policy will be the most disastrous (as was the case with Carter), and that will lead to even more cash hoarding and overall negative public feelings. Businesses will not hire, and people will not take risks. (except for those of us who know better)
It will eventually take another Ronald Reagan to fix it all…

1.Obama…Absolutely not! Do you know who advises him on economic and financial matters?…It’s left-wing elitist professors of ivy league universities who only teach and author books on the subject…conversely, CEOs of major corporations who are entrepreneurs and make billions of dollars like (Donald Trump) advise McCain on economic and financial matters…to lead our nation’s economy…my vote is for John McCain…a man of integrity, honor, strength and a true American hero. A man who has fought the fight and will fight for investors, entrepreneurs and business people like ourselves who create jobs, pay higher taxes, pour cash into the economy and support capitalism and truly live the American dream!…Obama, is mysterious, cryptic and has came out of nowhere as a senator who has former relationships with nefarious individuals who are anti-American, anti-Constitution and have very radical and provacative views that are socialistic and against everything that our nation stands for politically and socially. I’m also tired of the media portraying Obama as the great savior for all democrats/liberals and the middle class who will take from the rich and give to the poor…A modern day Robin Hood..I think not…I also viewed the recent debates, and Obama may be a great Debater however, he is no man of real character, dignity, substance and wisdom…These are the virtues that make up real men like John McCain…who is an open book…and his story reads like an inspirational novel from start to finish…Do not be fooled by Obama’s outer persona, charisma, articulation and affability. Remember this …As in water, face reflects face…So the heart of man reflects man…McCain has heart unlike Obama, due to previous aforementioned connections and the unwillingness to answer the tough questions under scrutiny and in open forum.

Bill – check out snopes.com . I was forwarded that article today and it is not true. That article scared the crap out of me so I’m glad it isn’t the case. Still, I’m not voting for him.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
I like to think that were not that stupid BUT you may be right. We’ll see as Obama will be the next Prez. I don’t hate the guy but he does scare me for sure. He lacks experience and alot of other things. John is not much better but can protect us
October 30th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
OK I guess you’re right. You must be smarter than me because I wasn’t going to vote at all. I mean why vote if it really doesn’t matter?
October 30th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Gonna be alot of upset people Nov 4th…lol
4 yrs of change….
October 30th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
Personally I think the republican agenda AND the democratic agenda both suck. I voted for Bush the first time and once he started to run this country into the ground I could never vote for him or anybody who supports him 90% of the time.
Sorry but I’m with the underdogs who posted above. McCain will carry out the Bush Agenda and if his health falters …. Palin will run this country even further into the ground.
On November 5th it’ll be business as usual… collecting rents from tenants and turning these short sale deals into money. Maybe I’ll buy a house in Argentina and run my business from there.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Greg, I have to admit I lost some respect for you after this blog. Your arguments are cogent but your conclusion does not logically follow your argument. So if your choice is not driven by the logic of your argument then there is something else hidden; Isn’t there? I won’t even begin to address the tone and tenor of the other obviously tainted commentators.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
Greg,
I will be voting for McCain. He would certainly not be my first pick but I would never vote for Obama no matter who was opposing him. I agree with many of the posts above about the man we may be electing president of this country. He has shown himself to be anything but honest and trustworthy, let alone unqualified for the office of president
You may be correct about about the mood of the country initially be more positive but so would be the mood of a heroin addict after a fix or a bipolar individual in a manic state. The problem with the mood change that may take place is that it will do so with the people who do not have the wherewithall to create an economic change that will endure.
My personal opinion is that we will learn more about Obama’s past after the election than we have prior to it and what we already know scares me.
This is a great country and I hope I am either wrong or we can endure the changes an Obama presidency would bring.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Ditto to Jim Garmong’s comment. I’ll leave you with this thought…when I was five I looked up and collected, what was then considered, illegal post cards of a young aspiring, Christian who preached democracy and wanted to bring change to a country deep in corruption, and demise. Fidel Castro, brought change all right, redistribution of wealth and a great healthcare system. Oh! In addition, when Russia tested Kennedy, he fell flat on his ass. That is why you have such a visionary for change, ninety miles from Key West. That is all I have to say, I to must get back to work.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Greg, if you meant, will the economy APPEAR to come out of the doldrums, I would be inclined to agree. You clearly recognize it would be short term, as it will take a while for Obama’s ‘tax and spend our way to massive entitlements (wealth redistribution) plan’ to take us into a depression and worse.
In the short term, the ObamaMedia will be applying their spin to make it appear as though we have finally been saved, declaring massive success in turning around our economic problems. The public will eat it up, as usual, and go back to business as usual…
..for a while, and that will look and feel like an upturn in the economy, while we are going to hell in a handbasket behind the scenes. Eventually we’ll reach a point where things get so bad that they can’t cover it up and keep a straight face or blame it on President Bush.
So, while it will appear to be an upturn in the short term, things will get very bad in the long term. I’d like to think that after that, we could find someone that can get us back on track, but we will likely be too far gone to ever return to the America we once had. Not enough people seem to care anymore or even be aware that we’re speeding towards becoming The United Socialist States of America.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
I hope Obama wins. Yes, I did vote for him.
The thoght of old man McCain and his sidekick bimbo scares me. Can this country really fall for this? I would have had more repect for McCain if he had the balls to make his own decision for VP. It’s evident by his weekly message changes, he’s doing and saying anything to get elected. If you do your research you’ll see there is so much dirt on this guy too! Too bad Obama has taken the high road on most of this. I respect him for that but many Americans fall for the dirt.
Hey, I’ve heard some folks even say Obama is the anti Christ. My response to that is, if he is then you should not go vote for McCain because the bible is true and there is nothing any of us can do to change what will be…….so why go vote. Don’t vote. Just stay home. Funny, everytime I say that folks say no they are going to go and vote which tells me they really don’t believe what they are saying but it sounded and made them feel good.
It’s time we had someone smart in the white house as we have already seen what a “C” grade student turned president delivers. How many trillions are we in debt? You want 4 more years of what?????
I am hoping that my man gets in and I try not to get upset by the daily news because while we all can vote, none of us are in charge of what will be.
But if I can wish, I wish for Obama.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
I do not believe either party will bring us out of this ressission fast. Actually it is not their job to do it. Their job is to protect us and guide. God puts leaders in place and we should not bad mouth them as this country is doing. That is bibical. Our leaders should believe in God and make decisions based on God’s word, then you will see a successful return to the good days.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
Wow, lots of long responses. I agree Greg, the President mainly sets the tone of the country. It’s the congress that mainly controls policy. I think Obama will set a positive tone and that will be beneficial.
Unfortunately we will probably wind up with a Democratic congress. That is a bigger issue than who is president. Both houses and the president all being democratic scares me.
Ned Carey
October 30th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
I am glad that you’ve consistently voted Republican.
I must disagree with the belly-aching about McCain. He’s no superman, but that’s the point. He’s applying for the job of manager of the executive branch of our government, whose powers are explicitly enumerated in the constitution.
Obama was disapointed that the Warren Court did not break free from the “constraints placed on the court by our founders” in order to reorder society in a redistributive way.
America will survive any president or congress so long as they are bound by the constitution – even if they fudge around the edges. When you have a man who promotes a “second bill of rights” (socialism) and wants the court to do what the legislature cannot – overturn the parts of the constitution that are there to prevent tyranny, then all bets are off.
As Christians, our faith is to be placed in God, not politicians. However, the bible does prescribe divine establishment principles with which a nation must maintain in order to be free (beginning with the first bill of rights – the Ten Commandments).
As Christians we can discern that God intends man to be free, own property and be protected from infringements on freedom (read the 10 commandments again with that in mind). I am not putting my faith in McCain. I am putting my faith in the Word and what is says about how nations should be formed. McCain could be the worst president ever, but when he leaves, our constitution will still be intact.
With Obama, there is no guarantee because he believes the constitution is a “fundamental flaw of this nation that continues today.”
October 30th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Possibly a President is best at being a cheerleader. Republican or Democrat the economy in the last 35 years seems to have done best with Reagan and Clinton. Whether they were honest or not, both came off as believing in America and were great speakers.
I don’t know if either candidate really has the long term answers to the economy or our basic liberties. Neither address the basic problems with our system of money and credit. Obama seems a little more socialistic, but he is a better speaker. So, Greg, in some way I see what you’re saying and although many fear the changes Obama may bring, he could bring about a more positive impact faster.
October 30th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
No matter who wins we are in for a mess. They both suck.
One has zero experience leading anything.
The other has zero experience leading anything.
They both want more government control and higher taxes.
I am going to continue to fill my mattress’ with cash and gold bricks no matter who wins.
p.s. nice hotbutton email
October 30th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
I am extremely bothered by Republicans who have been mislead to believe that “the conservative right agenda” most resembles biblical views. These republicans have generally been hoodwinked by the Jerry Falwell/Ronald Reagan version of the gospel. They fight abortion under the veil of “Pro-Life”, yet support a illegitimate war where people are dieing daily.
Jesus was very clear that “one cannot serve two masters….you can hate the one and love the other…and a house divided against itself cannot stand….one can not serve GOD and WEALTH”
Thus, the Republican version of Democratic Capitalism does not resemble “the kingdom of God”. The Gospel of Jesus Christ would tear down both republican and democratic agendas…he would judge them both inadequate.
I agree with Pam that “God establishes princes” for his purpose…not necessarily OUR purposes. However, I do believe we should vote and not stay home. When JC said to “give unto Caesar what is Caesar and unto God what is Gods, he was not referring only to money…he was making a general comment on how christians should participate as earthly citizens.
October 30th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Once Obama is elected Nov 4th, this country will make tremendous progress..even for the people that are against him. Most people are writing about pathetic fears McCain, Palin and mascot Joe the Plumber have attempted to plant in the minds of Americans. As I read more comments on this blog suggesting Obama may be anti American, accepting of terroism, and any other label McCain tries to pin on him as he loses day by day, it reinforces how much this country needs Obama as President. The GOP really kills me how they label Obama as a Socialist when they just “redistributed” $700 Billion of all of our taxpayer dollars to the very people that committed fraud to millions of Americans. But the country “needs” these banks and AIG ($120 Billion alone – don’t get me started on them) because our economy is so dependent on these corporations. I get it…to Bailout corrupt Corporations…that’s important and necessary for “Capitalism” but giving tax cuts to people that go to work everyday to “maybe” be able to pay their new ARM mortgage payment is “Socialism”. People give me a break. Americans aren’t falling for it. The fear tactic is not working this year and this country desperately needs positive change that Obama will bring. It seems many people on this blog will be upset on Nov 4th but hopefully you’ll all get over it. Watch your traditional Republican states turn Blue (Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Indiana, and from the robo calls McCain just issued in his own HOME state…maybe even Arizona!!) Good luck Republicans, just try to be supportive these next 8 years as we all have been these last 8 years!! Happy November 4th!!
October 30th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
It truly astonishes me, after these past 8 years, how anybody can be gullible enough to equate Republicans with small government and fiscal responsibility. My former party has systematically betrayed EVERYTHING it once stood for. They had 4 years to do something about illegal immigration – FAIL. 4 years to do something about abortion – FAIL. 4 years to shrink the size of government – FAIL. 4 years to bring spending under control – FAIL. In 2002, they promised us prosperity the likes of which we’d never seen – they succeeded. I’ve never seen prosperity that looks like poverty before.
Go ahead – vote Republican. Lose. Think nothing’s wrong with the GOP message. Continue to lose. Good luck – you’re gonna need it.
BTW- if you are TRULY CONVINCED Obama’s a radical, I have no use for you – you’re too ignorant to pound sand.
October 30th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
I think that it’s pretty apparent that the last election (or dare I say, the last two) would have made a difference. I once supported McCain, and voted for him when most Republicans were happy to see him get creamed by Rovian politics back in 2000. I anticipated his nomination this year, but he’s lost me with his erratic, desperate behavior.
Temperment and intelligence do matter as does policy. Yes, government does make a difference as do government leaders. Concerning McCain all one has to do is look at the disaster of the McCain campaign to get an idea of what his administration would be like. Still, I’m curious, he has stated that he knows how to get Bin Laden; he has stated that he knows how to solve social security; and he has stated that he knows how to deal with medicare. Why’s he waiting to tell us now instead of 8 years ago?
The differences between the two candidates is stark. For most of my life one party has had majority power, largely because of an effective narrative the that blended a mythos concerning the flag, Christianity, and abortion – this latter point being the coup de gras.
For those of you who think that the Republican Party will ever repeal Roe v. Wade, think again. They sell “Christians” on this idea every four years and use it to solidify a base that is happy to ignore the moral issues concerning the wars they lead, and their support of capital punishment. They need this issue because it defines them more than anything else. If they were serious about it, they would’ve tried during the 6 out of eight years they had complete control of government.
I’ve watched the Republican Party morph into something that is hardly conservative and definitely not Republican. Is it any wonder that Republican intellectuals (note: this does not include entertainers like Limbaugh and Hannity) are keeping their distance? Is it any wonder that the Republicans appeal to the lowest common denominator in American society? Is it any wonder that the the 10 most educated, affluent, entrepreneurial cities in the U.S. are blue?
All are bad signs for the viability of a once strong party.
We need an effective Republican party to maintain a strong union. But a party with leaders intent on labeling certain sections of the US as “real America”; a party projects itself to be the party of accountability; a party that believes in privitizing profits while socializing losses – this is a party that will lead American to more dead ends.
Many of you on this blog expected a Bush bonanza that was promised 4 years ago. Well, we got it – it just wasn’t what you were expecting.

Steve
Where do you get your information?
1.Obama…Absolutely not! Do you know who advises him on economic and financial matters?…It’s left-wing elitist professors of ivy league universities who only teach and author books on the subject…conversely, CEOs of major corporations who are entrepreneurs and make billions of dollars like (Donald Trump) advise McCain on economic and financial matters
Obama’s advisor’s are Warren Buffett, and Clinton’s old advisors.
Everyone who does not know what a liar palin is, she has bragged about the fact that Alaska is the most socialist state because of her creating a deal for each Alasken to recieve checks from the oil companies.
Sounds like spreading the wealth
October 30th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
I think both candidates are full of it, and if you think any different your a fool…
Ever since the Clinton administration and lying under oath has been excepted, there’s no reason to believe another politician again…
What do they call that? When you keep doing the same thing over and over again, but expect a different result…
I think it’s obvious…
As long as our country is being run by Democrat’s and Republican’s we are all going to face the consequences…
October 30th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
THE GOOD NEWS is…..I vote Jesus. “No weapon forged against me shall prosper.”
In the booth I vote Mc Cain. God loves me so much that he’ll bless who I vote for. Don’t think so? Just ask Him. The Righteous live by faith!

May God Bless us all!
Regardless of who gets in, we’re in for a heck of a ride.
October 30th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Wow, Is this a Republican Base or what. lol
Well I personally voted for Obama!
People who fear Obama are afraid because they don’t like change.
We all heard the “Change Is Bad” saying. Or, “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it”. This nation is broke and it needs to be fixed.
Just before the dow plunged, McCain said the economy was fine. (It was not)
Bush said, “I was trying to let the economy work itself out.” (So he knew it was bad, he just didn’t know how bad)
Everyone talks about how eloquent Obama is. Eloquence is achieved through passion. He is passionate about changing this country for the better. Eloquence is also achieved through substance.
People say Obama doesn’t have the substance. Are you serious? Substance is meaning! He brought so many people to tears in his speeches, because what he says has meaning and it is in tune with many people who are sick and tired of yesterday and the 8 years before that.
Mccain has passion too, but subtance….some may beg to differ.
I have nothing against McCain, but I just don’t trust that he will do what he says.
Everybody talk about Obama’s Tax Plan and how it will hurt the economy. Did you know this is what mccain supported back in 2000! Now some may argue that the economy was in better shape, but if you actually heard what mccain said and how he said it, then you would realize that there was a Huge Flip Flop!
Let’s think about this…. By giving more money to the poor and middle class… What do you think they’ll do with it? They’ll give it to the businesses! Why because people make money to spend it on things they want and need! People who save money will only spend it later and it goes right back to the ones who run the businesses!
Buyers in Real Estate are hurting because they can’t get financing, so they look for alternative sources. As for putting money down, they’re still out there, but alot of them say they don’t have the money! What if they now did? I know that will be a boost in my business! Many people use their tax returns to be high dollar items and put money down on houses and cars! Just think about it.
And for those that think Obama is Inexperienced…Give me a break!
We seen what someone with “experience” does! Go Bush! Right? lol
The Republicans had 8 years to get this economy right.
Now it is the Democrats Turn!
Come on people! Vote Obama Biden 2008!
October 30th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Slight correction.
I’m absolutely astonished at how Obama has pulled the wool over so many eyes. But don’t worry he’ll be dead within a year. To many people will not let him continue to disrespect the flag, our constitution, and our way of life. The only time he’s NOT lying is when his mouth is closed.
October 30th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Greg,
Only my opinion – and I’ve been wrong before…
I am NOT an Obama fan – but there are many articles showing better economy when Dems are in AND even Buffett says he prefers a Dem – he claims it is better for the economy. I can’t argue with his success and experience is many more markets than I have been through – and he has had MUCH success in all markets.
As the post above implies, I am NOT against change – in fact, we need a change badly – I AM afraid of Obama and the company he keeps. I know we’ll have an eye on him…
The poor masses WILL vote for him because they think they’ll get more. As you know, the rich will only find more holes in the system so they don’t pay the taxes – the poor don’t even understand these strategies that we go to classes about.
If the poor get what they want and he gets in – and they will start spending, I am good with it. Another up market – if even for a short while.
Brad (from the state that voted 74% Hillary)
October 30th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Chuck – EASY…. No matter what our personal views are (I’m conservative), we are all Americans and whomever is elected, we’ll need to support them for the 4 years they have office until we get a chance to let our vote count (that’s the constitution). I think we would all agree that Obama is not disrespecting the flag or constitution. Let’s take a deep breath!!
October 30th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Yeah…It’s not patriotic to do something like that to an American Citizen.
October 30th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Redistribution of wealth!!!!!
Good luck!, I am taking my money and move to another country as soon as this Barack HUSEIN Obama guy get elected.
Does this people realy think he is going to solve the problem…..?
Anyone sitting on the other side of the fence is going to vote for Obama, as long as they hear money is going to be taken from the rich and given to the poor.
No way! why is he going to do something like that, to the people who has had the same opportunities as the poor?
We can all accumulate whealth if we just get off our behinds and do something for ourselves.
He means to tell me the as a reward for being a hard working man, who spent longer hours trying to become a whealty man, he will take some of that and give it to the ones who are not willing to work a little extra…….to do what I and many like me had done?
From my side of the fence I see a totally diferent picture.
People complain that the republicans give tax breaks to the rich…and thats is the right way to treat the rich. Why?
Simple they are the ones who have this country on the move.
How?
Goverments are not business savy, and they do not run a country like a business.
A rich company have many employees to take care off..
Employes do not care how the company make their money they jus want to be paid, and some times an employee does not generate enough production to even support their own wage.
Those are the ones alway complaining and never doing anything to better themselves.
Their way of thinking is that they have to be paid more in order to produce more, that was never the way I tought when I WAS AN EMPLOYEE, and that is why I jump the fence and became an employer.
I now see the difference between Republicans and Democrats, which I never did as an employee.
Is obama fixing the economy….How the heck is he going to do that, if he takes my money, for sure I will no generate any more employment, thats me….if every other employer does the same, this country is just going to fall into a greater depression, see bad goverment does not agree whith good business and the only ones that are going to suffer, are this freekig Obama followers. The rich is going to take their money and go live in the Cayman Islands, and come back when it makes good business sence.
So all of you Obama lovers go and elect him for president.
Haven’t we lost enough employment to countries that charge less taxes to this rich companies?
Think about it?

All,
I have never forwarded political email and I promise not to do it again, but if I’m only to send one in my lifetime, this is the time and this is the one!
Please enjoy in the spirit in which it was intended- tongue planted firmly in cheek, or not, but please vote on Nov. 4th.
Smitty
Dear Red States…
We’ve decided we’re leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we’re taking
the other Blue States with us.
In case you aren’t aware, that includes Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota,
Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, and all the Northeast, from Washington, D.C. to
Maine. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to
the people of the new country of New California.
To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, North and South
Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Indiana and all the slave states.
We get stem cell research and the best beaches.
We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood.
We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.
We get Harvard. You get Ole’ Miss.
We get 85% of America’s venture capital and entrepreneurs.
You get Alabama.
We get two-thirds of the tax revenue; you get to make the red states pay their
fair share.
Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22% lower than the Christian Coalition’s, we
get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.
Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice, anti-Federal Marriage
Amendment, antiwar, and we’re going to want all our citizens back from Iraq, at
once.
If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they’re
apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose. We do wish
you success in Iraq, and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we’re not willing to
spend our resources in Bush’s Quagmire.
With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80% of the country’s
fresh water, more than 90% of the pineapple and lettuce, 92% of the nation’s
fresh fruit, 95% of America’s quality wines (you can serve French wines at state
dinners) 90% of all cheese, 90% of the high tech industry, most of the U.S.
low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy League
and Seven Sister schools, plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.
With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88% of all
obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92% of all U.S.
mosquitoes, nearly 100% of the tornadoes, 90% of the hurricanes, 99% of all
Southern Baptists, virtually 100% of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob
Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.
We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.
Additionally, we’ll leave you with the reality that 38% of those in the Red
states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62% believe life is
sacred unless we’re discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44% say that
evolution is only a theory, 53% that Saddam was involved in 9/11, and 61% of you
crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals than we lefties.
By the way, we’re taking the good pot, too. You can have that dirt weed they
grow in Mexico.
Peace,
Blue States

** I don’t know how all you folks have so much time to spend so much time to discuss so much about issues that most of us know little about. **
Then Jim Armstrong proceeds to compose one of the longest comments on this blog. What a riot!
October 30th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
To: J.Lamar Ferren
“Let’s think about this…. By giving more money to the poor and middle class… What do you think they’ll do with it? They’ll give it to the businesses! Why because people make money to spend it on things they want and need! People who save money will only spend it later and it goes right back to the ones who run the businesses!
Sorry buddy! if you give money to the poor so they can pour it right back to the business will only make the money loose it value, and will make the Dollar worth less than what is worth today, because this money was not earned for services rendered, or not produced by working, se an employee has to earned ten times his salary for a company to be profitable.
That’s why everyone that thinks like this “the poor” is always going to be poor, see, they make money to give to businesses, well they are not giving it to them because they are getting something in return, is not free money.
Now, if the Government gives one million dollars to everyone that is poor, the money would be worth even less, because is free money that is going to be used unwisely…..But if every small business is given one million dollars, it will only make the money worth more, because it will be use to generate employment, income, and obviously more tax revenue…..the poor will only loose the money and go back to being poor.
If the government get this 700 billions and invest in smaller companies they will help them create more jobs, the greedy already lost, because bad management and bad business tactics, let them close their doors, why does small businesses have to suffer.
“Buyers in Real Estate are hurting because they can’t get financing, so they look for alternative sources. As for putting money down, they’re still out there, but a many of them say they don’t have the money! What if they now did? I know that will be a boost in my business! Many people use their tax returns to be high dollar items and put money down on houses and cars! Just think about it. ”
Now you are only thinking about yourself, you do not care about people wanting to buy a house.
If people has better jobs, or any job, they will have enough money to buy a house, but if the job is gone, well lets rent them a house and hope they will have enough to cover the rent payment every month. If you give them free money they will still loose their homes, they never stop and think if they can afford the house and that’s why they are getting foreclosed right now.
You think about it!!!!!

Watch the following video in it’s entirety ASAP before you vote.
If you have never heard of Bridget Gabrial’s book ‘Because They Hate’, warning America about what happened in her little democratic country of Lebanon, then you ought to also read it because she has been warning America about such a situation as we are all about to fall into simply because people need to WAKE UP!
Watch the following video in its entirety since it is a summary of Obama’s history – if you research any of it, you will find each ‘issue’ is NOT propaganda, but TRUTH: http://www.americanpatrol.com/VIDEO/OBAMA/MessiahObama081029.html

Those of you who have drank the McCain koolaid:
McCain really was a maverick, long, long, ago, but THEN he went with hat in hand to Bob Jones University, kissed the backside of Bush/Cheney, held hands with John Hagee and other well known Evangelist, all to get their support. Never once in the past standing for what they believe. He selected Palin to get the vote of the conservative right (and by the way, what a pathetic choice that was). John McCain is the scary guy in this election, the guy with the mask on. He did all that in an attempt to get elected. I DON’T TRUST HIM.
Those of us that are wealthy and independent will continue to be no matter who’s elected. The president is not my source!
I encourage some of you to get a little more informed. To suggest that Obama wants to give checks to people on welfare, who sell and take drugs, is pure stupidity, and smells like bigotry.
If walks like a duck….. Were you born with that “L” on your forehead?
I love America. We are a strong country, and prior to the last eight years, we were respected and revered around the world. Everyone wants to be here (not Cuba, not Russia, not Iran, here).
So, no matter who you’re for… VOTE. And let’s support whoever is elected. He’ll need everyone one of our prayers!
October 30th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Greg – like you, I don’t much care for either candidate as well. Being a true conservative. I am trying to decide who to vote for, since neither fits the bill. (I may just exercise my constitutional right to vote for my choice and “Write-in” Mitt Romney).
To answer your question, I think Obama has good ideas for a energy/ alternative solutions and I do think he would do better at it, than McCain. He does also bring in a fresh ideas on Education. Which is what will be our countries future (also were we are falling behind). What I am not sure of at all is his Health Care mumbo-jumbo. However, the thing that gets me the most and is probably the most important (at least in my view) is who he may appoint to the supreme court. THAT will effect our country, our kids and our future for a long, long time to come!
If he was more open to a moral way of thinking regarding “the family” and the protection of that and if I thought for a second he would pick, not a “blue” judge or even a “Red” judge to be fair, but a even a moderate (moral) judge. I would vote for him in a heart beat. Because like me, the owner of a business, he brings vision. Which is an important triat for a leader. Also, I am afraid my political party has not given me much to work with this time around.
So like you, having always had someone to support in the GOP in the past elections. I will still not cross party lines and exercise my right to vote and do a “write-in”.
On a side note and a bit-of-trivia, did you know that GOP has not had either a Bush or a Nixon on the ticket since 1928 and won the white house…key being “on the ticket”.
Fellow Investors…Whomever you vote for…VOTE!!!
October 30th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
wow, among a few others, I appreciate and respect your views Joyce! I like you am voting for Obama for multiple reasons…
do i agree with ALL his views, of course not, just like I didn’t agree with all of Bush’s the (TWO) times I voted for him! But I am amazed at the Jesus people who call McCain the moral vote but are those the same morals that led him to leave his wife and daughters for another woman… sounds suspect to me?!?!?!
But then Obama is at a luncheon with some quasi-theoretical terrorist and now he’s one… Okay! And never have I seen so many strong-willed money making entre-complainers be concerned with having their taxes raised, as if they are REALLY going to be any lower with McCain.
Honestly, the last 8 years haven’t been bad for me but it had little to do with Bush and everything to do with what I did on a daily basis! Does Obama have a million and 1 promises out there, YES, but no more than Bill Clinton and a few less than McCain but here is the real deal no Republican has yet to confess….
The Republican party had resolved that this years election was already a done deal before it ever started as they knew Hillary was a sure-shot! No republican had a remote chance after W…. That is, until Barack comes and 86’s the whole game, leaving the Republican’s & Hillary (& Bill) dumbfounded. To say that a 72 yr. old guy is a better candidate and manager of our country than a guy who has clearly run a campaign much better is a joke. Secondly you have a VP who has legislated a state that has fewer people than I have in my neighborhood, but yet you say she is better qualified to be the next president provided something happens to McCain…come on guys! The proof is in the pudding, even Ray Charles can see that the Obama camp has run such an awesome campaign that the political landscape has forever been changed and just face it… the guy just so happens to be black, big deal!
October 30th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
I’m voting for Sarah!! She’s the only one of the 4 that’s got any real guts. However, I know neither my destiny nor this countries rests in the hands of one man or woman and in the long run we will be ok. I still believe we are One Nation Under God!!
October 30th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
If Obama is for CHANGE, why did he pick a long time Washington insider for a running mate?
What’s with his long time associations with soooo many radical people?
How can he give tax cuts to 95% of Americans, when 30% or more don’t pay ANY taxes?
His pro abortion, partial birth abortion, and failure to protect babies born alive from botched abortions shows his disregard for human life. What do you think his national health care will do to the elderly? No you can’t have your bypass surgery because there are young illegal imigrants that deserve a chance at life, and gee soon I’ll allow them to vote.
And if he’s for spreading the wealth, than why doesn’t he take the lead and spread his own weallth and give some of this questionable money he raised to McCain?
Why does Obama say he’s going to appoint supreme court justices who have a soft heart for single moms, gays, and minorities? I thought the justices are to interpret the constitution as intended by our founders, and that all men are to be treated as equals in front of the court.
No Greg, I do not believe the kind of change he proposes will make people happy. Obama’s plan is nothing more than trickle up poverty.
My vote is for SARAH!!!! The only candidate who has executive experience, and she respects the constitution of this great nation.
October 30th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
REdistirubution of wealth??? Taking taxes cuts that applied to only the rich and allowing the middle class to breathe…
What kills me is almost everyone one of you on here has dealt with a “middle class” home owner that is on the brink of being made into the poor class.
That’s right almost everyone on here including myself deals in short sales. And most of our non- affording homeowners could use whatever breaks life can give. You can’t honestly tell me that meeting these individuals week after week does not do something to the soul when you see husbands and wives break down crying and stating how they have done everything they can to save their home but the money just isn’t there.
McCain’s campaign has changed literally every week in this campaign. He has no plan and any plan that sounds good he basically stole the concept from the Obama campaign. Whatever sounds good he turns for his own use. Now he’s the “candidate for change”.
Change my arse..he has no plan. On two of the three debates he came of like an old wandering alzhemers patient that escaped from the rest home.
His VP choice wanted ALASKA to succeed from the U.S. ????? WTF ???? The last time talk like that came up was…..the Civil War ???
At 72 …there is no way in hell Palin should be allowed anywhere near the oval office…
4 more yrs of the last eight. DEPRESSING……
I still don’t understand how in the HELL Bush got elected in the 2nd term in the 1st fricken place…
People mistook patriotism for leadership.
He is literally the DUMBEST President we have ever had.
I watch Dave Letterman as he does his “Great Moments In Presidential Speeches”…
How in the hell is there that many snippets of him doing stupid isht on tape??
That’s just not right….
In this election McCain was outmatched, outclassed, outsmarted..outcampaigned…
Obama / Biden 08
October 30th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Obama…. no, it will not be better faster….. don’t trust him as far as I can throw him…
October 31st, 2008 at 12:13 am
Out of all the posts Greg has done, this one has gotten the most comments and it doesnt have ANYTHING to do with real estate, haha!! :p
I guess he knew how to pinch a nerve and get everyones attention!
Thats a good thing, because we all should be spirited and more involved in the politics of this country, regardless of what side we vote on! Its healthy for the US overall and shows people care!
WOW!! A lot of republicans on here I notice!!
I voted for Hillary in the primaries…
I voted for Obama yesterday (absentee ballot)…
Obama will win the election. All the polls show it and 99% of you know that in your gutt…
Why is his happening??
Simple: The majority of people (popular vote) want major change in a new direction, because our country is going through a bad, tough time all around (one of the worst ever), due to more of the same (Bush and his policies)… We cannot afford to let this go on anymore. We gotta stop the bleeding. Enough is enough. We need MAJOR change!! Thats what Obama brings to the table…
Only 50% of registered voters voted in 2004, we re-elected Bush, and that was a major mistake that many people now regret. You cant change the past, so you learn from your mistakes and dont repeat them in the future! And thats exactly whats happening! Obama best represents that change that we need and is truly the only candidate who brings that to the table. Not a guy who voted with Bush 90% of the time :p Come on now! Thats not Change! Thats more of the same! Everyone smart enough to know better!
When this nation is going thru so many problems from every angle/major issue and the majority of this accumulated in the last 8yrs, then we need major change.
Clinton gave us a surplus, Bush is leaving us with a deficit of about $10 trillion… Were fighting multiple wars, have by far the worst foreign policy era ever in our countries history, the lowest approval rating of any president ever, this mega huge financial crisis, complete de-value of the dollar, oil prices are so high meanwhile but our own oil reserve is untapped and much of it in TX is held by the Bush family, social security is diminishing by the day, scientific progress for diseases & cures has been slowed on stem cell research, there are tens of millions of people doing protests and marches around the world frequently because of our countries actions during the Bush administration, and a lot of hatred and lack of respect for the US…. Bushs approval rating is 27% currently!! And 12% of the country thinks were doing ok right now!! Who are these people?? Bush family members :p Dont know what glass house their living in :p
But overall with everything above, this is a sad state of affairs and major problem.
McCain is more of the same of that last 8yrs. He voted alongside Bush 90% of the time. We cant have that anymore! Enough is enough!
Bill Clinton had a 65% approval rating when he left… Hes openly endorsing Obama right now because he knows hes the best candidate that best represents the change that we need in order to get this country back on its feet, quicker and better then McCain. All around…
Scott McClellan, President Bush’s former press secretary, is even endorsing Obama!! WOW! Can you believe that?? Why? Cause he says “he best represents the direction of change that this country needs at this tiring time”…
Colon Powell, former general and pointman under Bush, is also endorsing Obama! As he stated about Obama “he is a transformational figure.” Hmm, sounds like more of that Change part again!
Are Clinton, McClellan, Powell and the majority of the voting population (poplar vote) all crazy???
Are tens of millions who march around the world due to our actions, all crazy???
Ask yourself this! I mean, its pretty clear that we need change, not more of the same and Obama is the best candidate in regards to that, PLUS hes got great plans for this economy and to help us get back on our feet!!
Make no mistake though, that it will take far more then 4 or 8yrs to fix the problems of the last 8yrs, but this transformational figure is going to steer us into the right direction and get us on route!!
Lets also keep in mind, that Joe Biden is 2nd in charge and hes a very well experienced & popular senator for many years and many republicans even like him even. Hes Obamas counterpart or answer for McCain… Palin on the other hand, haha, well just say she was the female version of Barack, used to ignite the faltering base and get the Hillary supporters on their side. It was kinda smart and kinda dumb to have her run as VP, but she did what McCain expected, and that was to ignite the base and get more turnouts. Shed good on that part… Shes scary though and wants more power as a VP as shes said in her debate speech. Imagine her being a heartbeat away from being president. Wow, that is really scary…
Its going to take Obama for 8yrs and then another like minded person for 8 more years to fix up this s**thole that were in right now. Sad, but true…..
Keep an open mind, look at others throughout the globe and lets not keep thinking like Bush & Cheney did the past 8yrs (pompus jerks who dont care to answer others and push their selfish agenda)…
Look at the overall state of this country and all issues we face. Dont just think about whos gonna tax me more :p Theres far more important things that we need to remember…
This is a great, powerful, advanced, free country with so much opportunity!!!!! I wasnt even born here but I easily say its the best country!!! Hands down!!! We gotta get it back to the level globally where it continues to be respected and we here in the US have to do our best to support our new leader and stay united….
Man, I get fired up about this stuff, just as much as getting nice, low approvals on short sales!! :p

There should be no concern about Obama redistributing the wealth. After all, to do that, he would have to take it out of Republicans pockets.
In the last 8 years we have seen a destruction of the very foundation that makes this country great-life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That’s all any American really wants. However, we have seen billions of dollars invested in a winless & unnecessary war where millions of dollars in contracts were awarded to Bush cronies. The fiascos of FEMA and Karl Rove. A 700 billion dollar bailout perpetrated by Bush and the Treasury that rewards bumbling ceo’s and greedy financial executives; but, does little for the suffering middle class. The republicans had their chance. They screwed up. It’s time for change. Obama is the answer!
October 31st, 2008 at 1:22 am
Greg, I don’t get why you are not voting for Obama, based on what you state in your blog. It makes no sense to me. It also seems chicken shit to me. You seem to be run by your past beliefs, your fear, your prejudice or whatever. Are you NOT voting for him simply because, “you have always voted Republican”? As someone earlier wrote: “The definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results….”
October 31st, 2008 at 4:57 am
It’s amazing to look at the comments on Greg’s post and see how uninformed voters sound.
People should wake up: America today is not what it used to be 30 years ago. It’s a super indebted country, the production base of which is gone to other countries, and which only maintains its role in the world through military might and monetary threat.
Any company with a bottom line and a balance sheet looking like our country’s would be unable to fund itself on any market. Yet our country finds investment money in other countries’ pockets. Why?
Do you think it’s because other countries think of America as that one very special place their money can be safely invested in government bonds? If you think so, you are in Lala-land. Other countries just know where the monetary cudgel is, and if they fail to bail out our country from its dire financial straits (think “twin deficits”), their own economy won’t look pretty.
Money is based on trust. Here, money is only based on fear. Obama vs. McCain? This is only 1% of the debate. The issues run much deeper than what either of the candidates are ready to deal with.
I vote Obama just to get the war to a quicker end. We are in debt deep enough that we can’t continue digging a hole in our pockets.
As a country we don’t anymore have the means of our ambitions.
October 31st, 2008 at 9:01 am
Neither candidate is going to help the economy in either the short or the long term. Both candidates voted for the bank bailout, and both think larger and more government is the answer to all of society’s problems. Until we realize that it’s up to us as individuals to take care of ourselves, and not the government, we will continue to get terrible candidates such as this election.
Remember, there are 3rd party options. Both Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution party, and Bob Barr of the Libertarian party are much better alternatives than the two that the media has picked for us.
October 31st, 2008 at 9:19 am
I will vote for McCain. I think that Obama is definitey way to scary for this country. His policies and his background will force the economy in the wrong direction. The last thing that we need right now is more or higher taxes!! To raise taxes on people and small businesses is absolutely the worse thing for our economy. I’m not ready to “Spread my wealth” to other lazy american’s!! Obama is nothing more than an inexperienced well spoken young man. I am very surprised that he has been able to “snow” the american public as much as he has! I think if Obama is elected, the only “change” that will come about is a “change” for the worst! I’m not sure that if he’s elected that I or the american public can hold our breath’s for four looonnnggg years of the presidency!

A bold move…religion and politics in one blog post!
I will leave you with a quote from my FAVORITE author of all time.
“We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.”
- Ayn Rand
Know this might be a little over the top from where we are now, but it definitely makes you think!

I love how the DEMOs call PALIN SCARY. What you are scared about? That she is a self made woman? Biden is an idiot everytime he opens his mouth. But it is typical for the democrates to mutter nonsense. All these liberal women out there say the same old “driveby media lines” they got off the View or CNN. Again, a group of brainless twits that cannot think on thier own.
What I am still waiting for is the REAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE! The Governor of Hawaii has locked it away for no one to see. I WONDER WHY? IF he was truely born in America, then SHOW IT WITH HONOR AND PRIDE!!! The Court has asked for it, and they got a fake. Why is no one bringing this to light? THE LIBERAL MEDIA wants liberial and socialism in our nation.
That is the true SAD CHARACTER of Obama. Lied about campaign financing and about his birth right. I think that shows the CHANGE we really need. If he has to HIDE and LIE about where he was born, I see him as a GREAT President!
Someone call Arnie in California and let him know he can run for President, but be sure to HIDE his birth certificate.
McCain is safer, Not sure if the Liberaterian Robert Barr is any better, but we can ALL agree, the next 4 years will be interesting.
October 31st, 2008 at 10:02 am
I agree with you 100%. That is one of the reasons I am voting for Obama. I am 25 and I am so sick over hearing from everyone how abd everything is. Whether its the economy, gas, war, jobs, its all bad. When Obama speaks he makes people have the sense that things are better. Nothing has even changed, but his presence and approach is so refreshing its amazing. I also like how he does not focus on war, but thats for another time.
Great Post!

Greg,
I am for a lot of the things Obama says he stands for – helping people, healthcare, tax breaks, social liberalism, all that stuff – but his bed fellows and sorted past is nauseating. Is it any worse than the typical politician’s bs? Yes – in many ways. You are the sum of your surroundings – and his “buddies†have been less than upstanding, American, Patriotic folks.
Ok, so I don’t think that if he gets in office more skyscrapers will go down, but can he be trusted? He is in bed with people who are known to be unfriendly to America, he wants to take away our 2nd Amendment (yes, I am a believer of if you outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns – if you don’t agree, think about that), he won’t cover his heart, the pin, the plane – all the bs..
This is the most passionate election I’ve ever seen and it will be an interesting ride.
I STILL don’t know who to vote for on Tuesday. Dean and I had a great conversation the other day – do we see all the faults of our “person No. is Dean blinded by the flash? Am I? Most likely. I will say this – we don’t need 4 more years of what we got. Will McCain be the same? I doubt he’d be that dumb, but who knows?
Best, Brad

Sarah Palin may be a good soccer mom, good with the PTA, good at putting her friends into the government positions in Alaska, good at abusing power when you cross her, yes she is good at all of the above but she is not and will not be a good VP. Have we not learned from the Bush years that we need some sort of smarts from our leaders. Have we not seen where we can end up if we don’t?
America has seen with Palin there’s just no depth. No substance. She barely graduated bouncing around to what 5 or 6 collenges until she could find one she could pass. She does not read much and does not have a great perspective on America and how it fits into the world at large. In a time of crisis if she was needed to take the reigns of power, where would she lead us? That thought just turns my stomach.
We need some intelligence, someone that has the ability to be calm in the midst of the storm and THINK, how to get us out of this mess. Irratic behavior, constant changing from one idea to the next, is not what we need now. As bad as Bush was even he did not do that. He just had bad ideas and just stuck to them no matter where it led this country. But at least he was consistent. Consistently Bad.
People we have got to change. It’s not a change for change sake, we honestly need to change our direction.
I long for the days when many were prospering not just a select few. I know many, who have lost their jobs given our down turn. We have got to turn this page quickly. Too many Americans are hurting. I bet even a few on this blog are as well. Think about that when you vote.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:22 am
Your followers are amazing Greg. I am sure all of these people who are bashing Obama (and can’t possibly believe McCain is a saviour) voted for GW Bush too. And look where that has gotten this country.
There seem to be a lot of pseudo politicians on here that seem to know whats best for a whole country. They should go run for office, after all, Sarah Palin has NO experience and she was chosen to run as 2nd fiddle, so can YOU!
I’m voting for the first knucklehead on this board who runs, cause I know he/she has all the answers as evidenced by this blog….
October 31st, 2008 at 11:37 am
Hmm. Just to add a few things.
I guess some Obama’s un-patriotic “buddies” that he is “in bed” with includes Warren Buffett, Susan Eisenhower, Chris Buckley, Colin Powell and a growing number of conservatives. Unfortunately, all politicians come in contact with unsavory characters in the course of doing the nation’s business. Whether they are old radicals who come out of the woodwork to kibbitz in community affairs in Chicago or murderous dictators who we prop up because the alternative could be worse by all indications, sometimes our public servants have to hold their nose and get the job done. The worst are drawn to power as surely as the best.
Both candidates have made strong pro-2nd amendment statements and both are much, much better on climate change and the environment than what we have now.
But to answer Greg’s actual question, I believe that electing Obama will probably mean a faster recovery simply because he’ll convey a cool, pragmatic reaction the situation as he has during the campaign and that should help bolster consumer confidence. But either way, election day could mark a turning point in our economy. I was speaking with our local legislative candidate yesterday, a conservative guy who feels that just getting the election settled will have a very positive economic impact – I tend to agree.

If any of you guys think that anybody can dig us out of this hole within 36 months, then email me TODAY I have a lovely piece of property to sell you on the West side of Atlanta.
Our country is so resilient and only in America can Dreams come true. I’m excited to see that the sleeping dragon is finally awake. We were all ‘Sheeps waiting for slaughter’ under this last watch. Now the bigger test is what we do as a Nation to ensure that whomever becomes the most powerful and influential being on this planet is held accountable. Electing them is NOT enough. It’s never been enough; but because we’ve adopted this microwave mentality we expect things to happen over night and without effort.
Surely, we as entrepreneurs know that NO-thing comes easy. Or, maybe I’m the only one that had to roll up my sleeves and work really hard for what I wanted in life.
The thought that Mr. Obama wants to GIVE hand-outs is preposterous. BTW, there are a larger majority wanting to work for, or, earn success and prosperity. Not everybody is sitting around waiting to cash in their lottery ticket of life!!!
As a third generation defender of this country and Army vet, I can say that I appreciate the sacrifice that Mr. McCain has made for me. However, I think the bigger sacrifice was when he gave up being the real Maverick that attracted me to him in 2004 for a game of political Chess by choosing 1984 First Runner up to Miss Alaska.
…..Country First, huh??
The ONLY Constant in life is CHANGE!

When did it become a crime to elect an intelligent person President of the United States? Barack Obama was the president of the law review at Harvard! Isn’t Harvard still one of the leading educational institutions in the world? He actually taught Constitional Law at the University of Chicago, for God’s sake! Conservative Republicans such as Michael W. McConnell, a conservative scholar who is now a federal appellate judge, are impressed with his intellect. Judge McConnell actually helped Senator Obama join the University of Chicago’s faculty.
Also, let’s be real here. Obama is not going to take your money and give it to poor people. He is going to change the tax rates back to where they were before the current idiot took office – you know, that decade of the 90’s where everyone made money, not just the people at the top. Plus, if he wants to offer us the same health plan that Congress gets, what is wrong with that? We are paying for their plan anyway and the only “benefit” we get out of it is that those idiots are healthier than us.
How about this nonsense about Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright. First Ayers – Obama was on the board of the Annenburg Foundation with Ayers. For those of you that don’t know (I am sure most of you do know, you just choose to ignore it), Walter Annenburg was a good friend of the Republican patron saint, Ronald Reagan. A solid conservative. There were other prominent Republicans on that board – I guess they are terrorists also. Heck, since Mr. Annenburg was alive during that time, and the foundation is named for him, he must have been a terrorist also. Nonsense. Secondly, the right Reverend Wright. I am a 50 year old black man, and I was raised in the black church. Frankly, I was surprised at the uproar over Rev Wright’s comments. Black churches have always been politically active (see the Civil Rights movement), and throughout my life, I have heard comments similar to Rev Wright’s. It doesn’t mean he is a radical, it means he is preaching to a congregation that still feels oppressed, no matter what the mainstream (read white) population thinks about equal opportunity and where we are racially in this country. I think we can be pretty sure that Rev Wright won’t be making policy decisions in an Obama administration.
Lastly, are any of you REALLY serious in thinking that Gov Palin is qualified to be President? Because she can see Russia from Alaska? When she thinks th VP’s job is to “run the Senate”? When she refuses to answer questions in a debate and insists she wants to talk to us real Americans? That sounds a lot like the current president – instead of lipstick on a pig, is it lipstick on a Bush? That scares the heck out of me. Those Hillary supporters that switched to Senator McCain because of her choice as the VP candidate should be ashamed – Gov Palin’s policies and beliefs are nowhere near the things Hillary stood for. If you switched from Hillary to Palin, then you were voting strictly on gender and not on any policy beliefs.
Obama has my vote, but whomever wins, come Nov 5th, we will still reside in the United States of America, where we can agree to disagree and not be pulled out of our beds in the middle of the night and shot for disobedience. Lets all be thankful for that, at least!

One of the best ways to tell what a person is going to do is to look at what they have done and what they have represented. Is the candidate saying things consistent with their past actions and things that they previously said while they were NOT campaigning?
McCain has a record and his campaign is mostly consistent with that record.
Obama’s actions and previous statements are much much farther to the left than what he is saying to get elected.
October 31st, 2008 at 6:14 pm
@ Kevin, you sound alot like Keith Olbermann….. that’s not a good thing.
November 1st, 2008 at 11:45 pm
Lou,
Where were you eight years ago when Bush trashed McCain?
As for McCain’s record, as a former McCain supporter I assure that the man we see today is not the same one who ran for president in 2000 or were not you paying attention? Would you like an example or are you only looking at the John McCain of the last 6 months . . . the one most independents barely recognize?
McCain has run a dumb campaign and again, as a former supporter this has surprised me. If it has been consistent in any one area it’s that his handlers have had to work tirelessly to remake and remarket him week after week. Reminds me of Gore in 2000.
So let’s pick one striking example of his inconsistency (again, I am not sure of your timeline). In 200O McCain supported a progressive tax plan just like the one Obama is proposing today. In other words, McCain felt and stated (you can watch on youtube) that those with more can certainly give a little more to help the whole.
If you doubt me, see Factcheck.org.
Lou, I appreciate your first comment, but it’s a bit too simple. Likewise, your dig at Kevin was unnecessary.

Say Lou,
I love Kieth Oberman. He gives the facts that get buried elsewhere. You can’t run from the truth.

I hope that all of the real estate investor’s that are making alot of money feel ok to let Obama tax you more because of your hard work and give some of your hard earned money to whomever he thinks is appropriate! I think it’s completely wrong! It seems foolish to me. I am a conservative, however I like to give my money to people I feel is in need(family, church and neighbors in need).I hope that anyone planning on voting for Obama is very careful! And if he’s elected, I’ll bet you’ll be crying later after he implements all of his crazy policies!
November 3rd, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Greg,
i feel sad that these MONKEY investors who will vote for OBAMA, have no clue to what is coming down the pipeline, this is some scarey stuff…

the video takes a few seconds to load…
Greg,
if you think supporting Obama is the right thing to do if he becomes president, i will revisted this blog 8 months from now to prove you wrong…
November 3rd, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Obama is a moderate. Biden is center right. NO one talks about McCain’s lackof experience, computer literacy or his membership in the Anti-Communist League back in the 50s (both anti-semitic and racist).
Who advises Sen. Obama on economics– among others, Warren Buffet. As Buffett has commented– his secretary pays more percentage wise in taxes than he does. If you have a society where the middle class cannot easily buy housing, medical care, and college tuition– how stable can that be? There’s a good book out Free Lunch, Fred Johnston, about the corporate free lunch: from taxpayers. Big oil still has their tax breaks, despite record windfall profits. THey simply don’t need them.
I really fail to see where the socialism is in rolling back the tax cuts to Clinton/Reagan levels? I don’t mind paying them– we can get some mass transit, bridges and renewable energy that works.
And re the Ayn Rand quotation, Than. No admin has ever taken away as many rights to privacy and due process, than this one– Patriot Act. No Dem would have dared. But in this country we live on emotion and perception. The Republicans are perceived as fiscally responsible and patriotic. Meanwhile, $10 bil a month wasted on the war; wiretapping without search warrant, etc. McCain ran against the republican smear tactics used against him in 2004. He’s changed. isn’t it strange he gets Chaney’s approval now? What’s that about?
No, the possiblity of a very ill, computer illiterate president and and very naive ideologue, Sara Palin, a step away from the presidency –scares the heck out of me.
I don’t know why y’all can’t see it. Must be the discomfort factor.
November 12th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
At least thank God it’s not Hillary…

So glad to see Obama won! Time for change

Obama is going to ruin America … and to the idiotic liberals and moronic others who voted for him…. I can’t wait to look you right in the eye and say, “see fools”… pay attention to history!!!!
American is greatest country on earth because of what we stand for. And it wasn’t built by sissy liberal democraps.

I believe if we bend our knees and pray to the one who created us, that is when we’ll see change-don’t depend on the dollar, depend on God. He is waiting for redemption not bailout!!
